Introduction to our Guest Speaker(s)

Victoria Kumpuris Brown has spent her career bridging multiple sectors, including the business community, to help children and families lead longer, healthier lives. Victoria is a founder of Elemental Advisors, which provides strategic guidance to executives and their institutions who are called to improve wellbeing in their part of the world. She was formerly with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) where she developed and implemented new strategies to engage the private sector to advance social imperatives including pioneering work to better anchor ESG investments in data and metrics. She also designed and executed RWJF’s disaster response and resilience portfolio and oversaw investments that addressed the childhood obesity epidemic and supported working families. Prior to RWJF, Victoria served as the EVP for Strategic Alliances at the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation and American Heart Association, where she brokered multi-sectoral agreements with the food, beverage, restaurant, and health insurance industries to advance childhood health and well-being.

Brown holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in public policy from Washington and Lee University. She has published numerous reports and articles and a spectrum of radio, print, and television media credits including U.S. News and World Reports, Fast Company, Forbes and Bloomberg Business Week. She is a noted public speaker and an active community volunteer. Victoria is on the board of the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center and the United to Learn Advisory Board and has raised millions of dollars as an event chair for numerous Dallas-based nonprofits.

Kate Knight is a social sector leader who leads impact investing field building work for Phillips Foundation and serves as the Director of the Impact Investing Think Tank. She holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Non-Profit Management from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kate is happiest building something at the corner of business and social good. She believes that innovation is a tool to help us develop smarter ways to improve the world around us, but that empathy is the key to finding the best solutions we weren’t even looking for.

As the founding director of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ Social Innovation Accelerator and then within her own consulting practice, Kate has spent over a decade leading and coaching social innovation startups in North Texas. She has counseled hundreds of innovators, coaching them on business models, social impact, fundraising, and operations – two of which she led to win the DCEO Social Enterprise of the Year award.

Kate lives in Dallas with her husband, her kids Annabel & Owen, and two crazy rescue pups. When not shopping her favorite social impact brands, you can probably find her trying a new ‘healthy’ recipe or listening to an audiobook while chauffeuring her kids between activities.
