The Importance of Tailored Advisory for the Modern Family will explore a shared but often unspoken dynamic in advisory relationships: the experience of disenfranchisement felt by both clients and advisors when traditional frameworks fall short. At the heart of the conversation is the recognition that today’s “modern family” often extends beyond conventional definitions—yet advisory models have been slow to evolve. This is particularly evident in the experiences of LGBTQ high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, where quantitative data remains limited and industry knowledge gaps persist. While many are served by existing financial providers, these relationships can lack the depth of understanding required to navigate nuanced family structures, historical context, and current challenges. The absence of a centralized network of LGBTQ-informed advisors further underscores the need for more intentional, tailored approaches.

Supporting Democracy through Philanthropy will explore effective ways that advisors can approach conversations with clients who are interested in democracy, civic engagement, and political giving during an increasingly complex election cycle. Many advisors worry that these conversations may feel uncomfortable, polarizing, or outside their expertise. This session will offer practical frameworks, language, and tools to help advisors lean into their strengths: listening well, clarifying values, and helping clients think strategically about impact. Using a real-world client case study, we will explore how advisors can collaborate with subject matter experts, navigate questions around charitable and political giving, and support clients in developing thoughtful, values-aligned strategies across 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and other giving approaches.

This session is designed for professionals who want to strengthen how their families engage over their trusts in ways that both improve family harmony and help avoid breakdowns around their trusts. This session introduces trust administration preparedness as a proactive approach for all professionals. Countless families have broken apart over the division of family wealth and treasures. This is almost always avoidable if we have the courage and compassion to address issues honestly and with listening and empathy. This session will give participants the skills and understanding necessary to have these conversations using true human connection and understanding. Even the most complex estates can be managed in a way that promotes family harmony for the long-term. The ultimate success is when a family can celebrate and grieve their loved one knowing that they don’t have to worry about the transition of family wealth.
