Guest Speakers: Lori LoCicero and Lisa Pahl, Creators of The Death Deck

Host: Stephanie West Allen, JD, PPI Dean of Neuroscience and Contemplative Practices

Description: During this pandemic, people who previously had not been focusing on mortality have allowed death more consciously into their awareness. And with this sharpened attention on their own mortality, many have been participating in activities that are new or that call for a renewed focus, including:

  • Talking with family, friends, and colleagues about important topics not discussed before
  • Preparing documents with professional service providers
  • Evaluating and prioritizing what’s important today and in the future
  • Clarifying values upon which to make both everyday and life-changing decisions
  • Envisioning a desired legacy.

Fortunately, a level of awareness that can be helpful for such conversations, preparations, and clarifications can be facilitated in a way that’s novel, not morbid or grim, and can be entertaining, even fun. In this Webinar, we will introduce and talk about a game called The Death Deck!

Our guests will be Lori LoCicero and Lisa Pahl who are creators of the Deck. They will tell us the story of their serendipitous meeting, and how and why they pooled their talents, knowledge, and backgrounds to create the game. In addition to telling us a few of the experiences they’ve had using the game and some of the benefits they’ve seen for people who play it, they will give a few of us an opportunity to play a round or two of The Death Deck during the Webinar.

If you want to learn more about the Deck before meeting Lori and Lisa on the webinar, go to thedeathdeck.com. If you want to own a Deck of your own, they are offering PPI members and others who listen in a 10% discount. Use this code: PPIWEB.
