Main Keynote

Poet David Whyte grew up with a strong, imaginative influence from his Irish mother among the hills and valleys of his father’s Yorkshire. He now makes his home in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The author of nine books of poetry and four books of prose, David Whyte holds a degree in Marine Zoology, honorary degrees from Neumann College and Royal Roads University, and has traveled extensively, including living and working as a naturalist guide in the Galapagos Islands and leading anthropological and natural history expeditions in the Andes, Amazon and Himalaya. He brings this wealth of experience to his poetry, lectures and workshops. His life as a poet has created a readership and listenership in three normally mutually exclusive areas: the literate world of readings that most poets inhabit, the psychological and theological worlds of philosophical enquiry and the world of vocation, work and organizational leadership. An Associate Fellow at Said Business School at the University of Oxford, he is one of the few poets to take his perspectives on creativity into the field of organizational development, where he works with many European, American and international companies. In organizational settings, using poetry and thoughtful commentary, he illustrates how we can foster qualities of courage and engagement; qualities needed if we are to respond to today’s call for increased creativity and adaptability in the workplace. He brings a unique and important contribution to our understanding of the nature of individual and organizational change, particularly through his unique perspectives on Conversational Leadership.

“Why come to the Rendezvous? I have attended every Rendezvous and each has been the highlight of my professional year. This gathering has been far and away the best professional conference series I have attended. The Rendezvous is an extraordinary offering filled with remarkable people, a spirit of generosity and creativity, and remarkable content that gets to the heart of truly purposeful work.”

– Matthew Wesley, JD, MDiv., The Wesley Group

“The best way to serve my family business clients is in collaboration with experts in a variety of disciplines including law, accounting, financial advisory, insurance, banking, and of course, someone who can help the family address the emotional side of these topics. That’s why I’m excited to participate in the Fusion Collaboration.”

— Cathy Carroll, MBA, PCC, Legacy Onward

“Rendezvous is my one gotta-go-to gathering. I refrained from calling it a conference because while best practices and other valuable information are shared, the most enriching aspect of the Rendezvous is connecting with like-minded, like-hearted, and like-passioned others, who practice varying disciplines and all feel called to work with families of wealth in matters well beyond the numbers and financial wealth. Many people talk about collaboration, yet few of us truly engage this value-added approach to our work. The Rendezvous is a place to explore how to come together more — and to practice that while at the Rendezvous! You’ll leave inspired and energized.”

– Melissa Mitchell-Blitch, Legacy Consultant & President at Eredita, LLC

"As a Legacy Estate Planning Attorney, I felt the Fusion Collaboration was an excellent foray into combining the technical tax updates with the social and emotional intelligence we all use to counsel clients in the emotional issues we face every day. Fusion presented a unique way of marrying the two disciplines in a way that gives me more tools to help clients and be a true counsellor. I would recommend this program to anyone in this field.”

 — Michael G. Stuart, Esq., Member/Manager & Founder at The Stuart Legacy Alliance, LLC

"A unique gathering. Bringing together people and topics from different disciplines is only the first step. This conference takes on the ambitious goal of joining their perspectives to create a combined experience. It works."

– Don Kozusko, Esq., ACTEC Fellow, Partner, Kozusko Harris Duncan, Private Client/Wealth Management Counsel Best Overall Law Firm PAM Award

“Today’s wealth-owner is asking a different set of questions when it comes to family and financial assets. The Purposeful Planning movement is where advisors looking for the answers to these questions will need to be.”

– Timothy J. Belber JD, AEP, Principal, The Alchemia Group
