Purposeful Planning for a Special Needs Child

Date:  November 6, 2018

Time: Noon ET (60 Minutes)

Guest Speaker: Hal Wright, CFP®, Special Needs Planning Consultant

Host: John A. Warnick, Esq., Founder, Purposeful Planning Institute

Special needs planning is purposeful by its nature. More than any other area of financial planning, it addresses fundamental family values and relationships. It’s about understanding the profound, aching hope of parents that their child will be happy and helping them fulfill that hope.

Introduction to Our Guest Speaker

Mr. Wright has been married forty-six years and has three adult children, one born with Down syndrome.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University, School of Engineering, and an MBA from Loyola University of New Orleans.  He pursued a successful 27-year career as a corporate business executive.  In 2004 he read an article in the Wall Street Journal about the scarcity of financial planners with expertise in special needs planning, i.e. – helping parents plan for the future of their child with a disability. The article spurred an immediate career change.  He resigned his corporate management position and established a comprehensive financial services practice with emphasis on special needs planning.  He graduated from the College of Financial Planning and earned the respected professional designation: Certified Financial Planner™.

As a financial planner and an investment advisor, he was affiliated with Colorado Financial Partners, LLC.  “The Partners” is one of Colorado’s largest financial services firms with 80 independent advisors and over $1 billion in assets under management. Mr. Wright practiced in the areas of estate planning, retirement planning and special needs planning.  He became nationally known as an expert in special needs planning and is frequently invited to speak to professional and parent audiences.  He closed his financial planning practice to write a book on special needs planning, published in 2013.

Now a consultant, he continues to work with families to help them develop a life plan to create the best possible life for a loved one with special needs.
