Introduction to Our Guest Speaker

Daniel Carlin, MD, pioneered WorldClinic’s innovative concierge telemedicine model after a decade of experience in demanding health care environments, first as a U.S. Navy Chief Medical Officer then as a refugee camp physician. Trained in surgery and emergency medicine, Dr. Carlin is board certified in Emergency Medicine and holds a consultant-staff appointment at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in suburban Boston.  Dr. Carlin received a BS from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. After an Internship in General Surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland, Dr. Carlin received additional training at the U.S. Armed Forces Combat Casualty Care School and the U.S. Navy Radiation Health School. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he also served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Carlin is a recognized leader in the field of concierge telemedicine and use of the latest digital technologies to provide personal health protection and management. He is a frequent speaker to both medical and international development audiences, and has spoken at institutions such as MIT and the Naval Academy, and at conferences including the American Telemedicine Association and the International Development Council.

WorldClinic has been featured in Business Week, Forbes, Fortune, FT, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Worth, and Dr. Carlin has appeared on The Today Show, Dateline NBC, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
