Introduction to Our Guest Speakers
Kirby Rosplock, PhD is a recognized researcher, innovator, advisor, author, and speaker in the family business and family office realms. She is founder of Tamarind Partners, Inc., a research, advisory and consultancy practice that works with families, advisors and institutions connected to the family office market, Rosplock provides leading edge insights and knowledge to the family office domain.
She is author of numerous articles, research studies and books including The Complete Family Office Handbook, published by Wiley/Bloomberg January 2014. She is writing her next book entitled The Complete Direct Investing Handbook (May, 2016). She was the editor for the book, A Family’s Guide to Wealth: Insights from Thought Leaders and Pioneers (GenSpring, 2009).
For nearly a decade, Dr. Rosplock was director of research & development at GenSpring Family Offices, based in Jupiter, Florida, one of the most prominent multi-family offices in the U.S. Dr. Rosplock knows firsthand the complexity of wealth in a multi-generational, family business owner, beneficiary, trustee of her family’s foundation and former member of the family business board. Dr. Rosplock has spent most of her career building the skills, acumen and direct experience working with families in a highly-customized fashion.
Dr. Rosplock is Dean of Family Office at the Purposeful Planning Institute (PPI), a Fellow and Faculty of the Family Firm Institute (FFI), former editor of the FFI Practitioner, former board member of FEUSA and co-trustee of the Harbeck Family Foundation, and on the advisory board Merton Venture Philanthropy.
Lydia Tuthill, Independent Family Advisor
Lydia serves as a trusted advisor and coach to individuals and families navigating the complexities of substantial wealth. She works with families in a number of ways:
Trustee – Lydia serves as an independent trustee to families and their entities. Her fiduciary responsibilities include oversight of investment performance for multiple portfolios, beneficiary distributions and education of the rising generation. She understands the importance of fostering a mutually beneficial trustee/beneficiary relationship.
Legacy Coach & Family Advisor – Lydia’s work within a family context involves helping families align around a shared goal by establishing a common dialogue in order to define family legacy, establish governance structures and to set a clear strategy that is in the interests of all family members. She is passionate about seeing families flourish; using her skills as a certified executive coach and more than a decade of experience in the field of governance to help prepare rising generations of financially successful families.
She is a collaborating consultant at Tamarind Partners. She contributes to the development and design of courses for the Tamarind Learning online learning system.
Lydia’s motivation for this work started when she was selected for HSBC’s prestigious Global Graduate Program. During her 12-year tenure, she enjoyed many challenging and varied roles focused in wealth management with leadership roles in many of the Group’s major centers; London, New York, Geneva, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Working globally in the wealth management industry, Lydia witnessed first-hand a consistent, and often significant, gap in how a family’s wealth and associated enterprises were structured and managed in relation to the apparent lack of emphasis that was placed on the family system and its governance.
Lydia earned her BA Honours (Joint) Economics and Business Management from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. She is a certified executive coach from the Meyler Campbell Mastered Business Coaching Programme in London. Currently, she is studying for certificates in Family Business Advising (CFBA) and Family Wealth Advising (CFWA) with the Family Firm Institute. Lydia is a UK citizen and resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
